Educational Summer Camps

This is an interesting article discussing how summer academic camps can be an effective antidote to the summer learning loss phenomenon that has led to so many calls for year-round education. 
Summer School and Summer Camp

Although we do have year round education here in Wake county North Carolina it is only for middle and elementary school.  The year round calendar in Wake county does not include high school and appears to be more geared to accommodate the rapid population growth the area has experienced in the last few years.

What do you think?  Do you agree or disagree students experience learning loss over the summer?  Are year round schools an asset to our students or a hindrance?
